Try a Taste of Hickory Syrup and Pepper Jam!

posted Dec 1, 2012, 5:15 AM by dee r

On Saturdays and Sundays in December 2012 come join us for tastings of our new Shagbark Hickory Syrup and Sweet Red Pepper Jam. The syrup is a culinary delight, not just for pancakes! It's unique flavor is more complex than maple syrup and is fabulous on salmon, sweet potatoes, infused in mixed drinks, basted on chicken and used in baking. It is the "secret" ingredient of many chefs.

Sweet Pepper Jam and Red Onion Jam are not what you might expect. On a cracker with cream cheese, they make superb appetizers. As a glaze on meats , a spread on bread or as a condiment, these unique jams make great hostess gifts or gifts for co-workers.

Clearing and Planting - Winter through Spring 2012

posted Nov 3, 2012, 6:49 PM by dee r

During the winter and long into the Spring of 2012, we worked hard to cut and clear the area of untrimmed big trees up on the hill. It took a lot of weekends and hundreds of tractor pulled wagon loads of branches to clear the upper half of the hill for replanting. In late Spring, hundreds of 3-5 year old firs and balsams were planted throughout the farm. We would like to thank all the family members who came up to the tree farm and helped with this task. These newly planted, older trees should be ready in 5-8 years.

Pre-cut Trees

posted Nov 30, 2011, 12:53 PM by Deb Rudy   [ updated Nov 3, 2012, 6:58 PM by dee r ]

A small selection of pre-cut trees are now available for sale. The selection varies from day to day but in 2012 will include small, child-size trees.

The pre-cut trees can be found between the tractor shed and the parking lot. They are also located on the Craft Barn side of the road. Since we sell trees by the type of tree and not by the foot, if you want a smaller tree, check these out first.
